I have been a little MIA lately, taking a break from weddings and these little munchkins are the reason why...

Today is the start of a new year and so it seems fitting to start with a fresh new website! I'm now also offering special 'elopement packages'. Click here for more information.

I have always wondered what it would be like for a hairdresser to have to do a cut and colour for another hairdresser. Or a photographer to photograph the wedding of a fellow photographer.  I mean... the pressure of being scrutinized by someone in that same trade seemed scary to me...

So when I was first approached by a fellow celebrant to officiate her own wedding, at first I felt truely honoured.  And then I realised that these were going to be some BIG shoes to fill.

Luckily, we have a very similar 'style' and during the time that we have known and supported each other over the years in this industry, we have found out that we are both from the same suburb in New Zealand, and we both share a love of Japan.

This ceremony was both the easiest and hardest ceremony I have ever written and performed. It is one that will forever remain close to my heart because it didn't feel like I was performing a wedding for a client (or for my closest competition in this industry LOL), but instead it felt like I was performing a wedding for a friend.

Congratulations my beautiful friend. You two make a beautiful couple :-)

I don't usually get too nervous before performing a ceremony. But this one was different. This one started with welcoming the guests in Japanese:

It had been 8 years since I had lived in Japan, so I was a little rusty but hopefully I did you proud, Hisayo and Adonis.

Check out their beautiful vows for each other in this stunning video composed by Sarah Dinsey Films:

When we meet 'The One' and they live half way across the world, it can sometimes be easier to just give up. But to Johnny and beautiful Taegen, this love was one worth pursuing.

A year after the long and tiresome process of moving Johnny over from South Africa, the couple were finally married at the beautiful Gold Coast Ecostudio Fellini. Yes, it rained, but it certainly wasn't going to put a dampner on the day.

Today was the day that they could finally become Mr and Mrs Pedro!

Who doesn't love a surprise wedding???!!!

I totally get it when a young couple comes to me and says they have been together a long time, they have  just bought a home together and so they want something small and intimate, with close family and friends.

So let's have an engagement / 'surprise wedding'!

I'm in!

Let's party!

What do you get when two doctors marry?

Not exactly your typical formal wedding, but rather a sweet and simple, down-to-earth style ceremony that includes a Bob Marley reading of course!

Married at the State Library of Queensland, Graham and Erin were so chilled out about the ceremony, they made it just too easy for me! The hardest part of the ceremony was making the bride slow down for her entrance down the aisle! Just have to say that I LOOOOVED the dress too :)

I first met Crystal at her friend's surprise wedding back in 2009 when I first started performing weddings as a celebrant. So you can imagine how excited I was when she later contacted me to be her celebrant for her own wedding about 4 years later!

I liked Russell immediately. They were a perfect match. And I couldn't wait to do their sweet and imtimate wedding held at Russell's parent's beautiful home in New Beith beside the pool.

The ceremony itself incorporated personal touches. I love it when the couple decides to write personal surprise vows as it always involves genuine emotion.

Congratulations Crystal and Russell! And thank you to the awesome guys at Wrapped Up Media for letting me share their video.

Meeting Ryan and Danielle for the first time set the tone for their wedding. I just knew it was going to be relaxed, fun and low-key. Set at the Brisbane Powerhouse, the decorations were simple, yet personal, including homemade jam YUM!

And with a photographer like Jess Marks (www.jessmarksphotography.com.au), I just had to share this ,ciute couple's memorable day. Be sure to check out her awesome video below too!

This couple's epic love story spanned over 12 years and several continents. For 10 years they were pen-pals, writing to each other. Grant, in Nebraska and Amber from Brisbane. When Amber went to visit Grant in the States 2 years ago, their friendship guickly grew to love... a love so strong that it was determined to withstand the long and arduous process of moving Grant over to Brisbane.

One of my favourite all-time ceremonies was this one. Amber surprised Grant by collecting videos from all his family and friends who were not able to make the trip to Brisbane. Before she walked down the aisle, the videos of well wishes were played for Grant. Needless to say, there were not many dry eyes in the room that day.

The beauty of this couple's love, and their special day of celebration was captured by one of my favourite photographers, Elleni Toumpas (www.ellenitoumpas.com.au)

Oh and did I mention that Amber made the wedding cakes herself ??? Amazing!!!!

Anastasia and Eugen were the winners of a Wedding Giveaway that I was involved in last year. It's been a year of busy planning for this couple, working with some amazing wedding vendors, so you can imagine how exciting it was to finally have their BIG DAY.

Ana and Eugen's story captured all our hearts. Eugen was an refugee from Albania and met the lovely Ana in Greece. They fell in love, have had two beautiful children, Luca and Eva, and now live in beautiful Sunshine Coast. Ana and Eugen have been a wonderful couple to work with, both showing genuine gratitude to all the vendors involved in this Wedding Giveaway and we are all so pleased that we have been able to make their dream wedding come true.

Its couples like Mark and Mekelle that make me just love my job.

From the moment I met Mark and Mekelle, I knew this wedding was going to be fun and funky! How could it not be with a venue like Jade Budha? View of the city and Storey Bridge?  Tick!  Funky and stylish decor? Tick! Unique venue space? Tick!

This was not going to be your run of the mill wedding. With 1000 paper cranes (each one handmade by a very patient friend), a hundreds-and-thousands wedding cake, red bridal shoes and cute seedling favours for the guests, this wedding was stamped with a Mark and Mekelle vibe.

To Mark and Mekelle, thank you for being such a warm, friendly and fun couple to marry. I absolutely LOVED meeting you both and wish you both all the very best  xx  Fi

It's not often that the groom's  shoes cost more than the dressmaking of the bride's wedding dress. Luckily they were some REALLY NICE shoes. I really enjoyed meeting Ryan and Bianca. They were a down-to-earth couple, well suited to each other, both sharing a refreshing sense of honesty. Right from the start, everything was very easy. No bridezilla or groomzilla here. And to top off the experience, they had their wedding at Cloudland! For those of you who know Cloudland, the ceremony was held on the bottom level, right in front of the pond with the naked statue in all his glory. Classic.
